FCT PUBLIC COMPLAINTS COMMISSION OPENS PERMANENT OFFICE

The Federal Capital Territory’s chapter of the Public Complaints Commission on Wednesday officially opened its new permanent office. At a brief ceremony, the Honourable Chief Commissioner, Honourable Abimbola Ayo-Yusuf in his remarks said the new office was part of his agenda to provide a conducive working environment for the staff who play important role in the success of the commission.

Reflecting on his past experience as the Lagos Commissioner of the Commission, he said he understands the challenges facing the Commission both at the national and state levels and commended the FCT chapter under the leadership of the Commissioner, Comrade Dalhatu Ezekiel Musa for their exceptional performance and contributions to the growth of the ombudsman institution in the country despite limited resources and tough working conditions. He urged the staff to remain committed to upholding the vision and mission of the Commission.

On his part, the FCT Commissioner, Dalhatu lauded the Chief Commissioner for his commitment in addressing the accommodation challenges of the FCT chapter. He said the FCT chapter has for years operated from rented apartments. He described the new office as an important milestone in the life of the Commission and assured that the FCT chapter will continue to enhance its service delivery and public trust in the Commission stating that “what the FCT office has been doing before is just a tip of the iceberg, this is the time to do more”. He said the new office located at Plot 4706 Asmara/Bissau street Wuse Zone 6 is strategic and would provide ease access to Nigerians to utilise the Commission’s services.

The Secretary to the Commission, Hajia Salamatu Mamman said the new office is a symbol of the Commission’s presence in the federal capital territory. She expressed her gratitude to the Chief Commissioner for his resolve in securing a befitting building to support the FCT chapter’s operations.

The event was attended by the several Commissioners, members of the senior management team of both the headquarters and FCT office, staff of the Commission and other invited guests.
