INTRODUCTION
The Public Complaints Commission, Edo State Office came into existence in October 1976 under the Military Government that was headed by the late General Murtala Ramat Mohammed. This Ombudsman’s Office was to wade into the various complaints that amounts to social and administrative injustice emanating from the Ministries, Department and Agencies in Federal, States, Local Government Areas, registered companies in Nigeria as well as their officials. The institution operates in view of the power bestowed upon it as enshrined in the Nigeria Constitution CAP.37, LFN 2004 as amended.

VISION STATEMENT
To restore the dignity of man through the enthronement of rule of law and protection of the individual/organization against administrative injustice.

MISSION STATEMENT
To promote an effective and efficient service that is responsible and responsive to the needs of the citizens through investigation and resolution of complaints against Federal, State and Local Governments, Public Corporations and Private Sector Organizations and the official.

The first Honourable Commissioner immediately after its inauguration was Mr. Elebesunu, M.O and his tenure ended in October, 1984. His Successor was Chief J.O Igbrude (Dec.1981-Nov. 1984). Mr. P.S. Salawe took over from him in November 1984 to October, 1990. Next to Mr. Salawe was Mr. G.A.T Aggreh from November 1990 to December, 1996. However, Mr. J.O Akharumere stepped into the office from July 1996 to November 2000. The above period marked the end of Commissioners under the Military Regimes. It should be noted that after about twelve years interlude, the political class took over the leadership of the Commissions right from the Commission’s corporate Headquarters to the states including Federal Capital Territory Abuja. Hon. Barr. Oladele Bankole Balogun assumed Edo State Office from 2012 to 2015. He was succeeded by Barr Felix Alari (2015-2018). (AMB.) Chief Peter J.E. Anegbeh who manned the Ombudsman Office from May, 2018 to July, 2024.

At this juncture, the present Hon. Federal Commissioner Mr. Augustine I Aigbavboa assumed duty in September, 2024 after the epoch inauguration with other State Commissioners in Abuja with the dynamic, resourceful and vibrant Hon. Chief Commissioner, Hon. Abubakar Bashir (MFR). One unique virtue about the Hon. Federal Commissioner of Edo State office is that he worked as staff of the Commission in Edo State as well as Delta State where he retired as a Deputy Director of Investigation. The entire Ombudsman institution in Nigeria will admit that Hon. Augustine Aigbavboa knows the nitty-gritty of the Job based on his wide horizon, fore sight and pedigree in human endeavors.
