The Federal Capital Territory’s Commissioner of the Public Complaints Commission, Comrade Dalhatu Ezekiel Musa on Tuesday met with the Managing Director of the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund, Mrs. Maureen Allagoa in her office in Abuja.
The Commissioner during the visit highlighted the broad mandate of the Public Complaints Commission, established in 1975 to address administrative injustices and harps on the need for cooperation with other government agencies to effectively address these issues. He said his office received complaints from indigenous people of FCT regarding marginalization in recruitment into the agency and urged the Managing Director to look into it. He emphasized the need for collaboration between his Commission and the agency more especially in area of public enlightenment.
In her response , Mrs Allagoa outlined the role of NSITF in managing the employees’ Compensation Scheme, which supports workers injured on the job or suffers work-related disabilities. She noted that the fund ensures comprehensive compensation for workers. She assured the Commissioner that her agency adheres to legal processes in recruitment.
They both agreed on the importance of joint public awareness campaign to ensure that employees and employers alike are informed about the protections and obligations defined under current social insurance laws. They also discussed implementing joint initiatives to enhance accessibility of their services to the public.
