LAGOS STATE OFFICE OF THE PCC COLLABORATES WITH LASTMA TO FIGHT ADMINISTRATIVE INJUSTICE

The Honourable Commissioner, Public Complaints Commission, Lagos State, Hon. Hafeez Adekunle Odunewu has commended the Management of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) for the efforts the agency is making to bring sanity in the city.

The Honourable Commissioner made the commendation when he paid a courtesy visit to the Agency.

Disclosing the purpose of the visit while giving an overview of the activities of the Commission as an Ombudsman, Hon. Hafeez Adekunle Odunewu explained that the visit was aimed at commending the accomplishment of the traffic management authority in ensuring the smooth and hitch-free movement of people and goods within the state.

He stressed the need for the two organizations to collaborate so as to fight administrative and social injustice in the State.

Earlier in his welcome address, the General Manager, LASTMA, Mr Bolaji Oreagba unveiled some of the achievements and efforts and innovations the traffic authority is making to uphold its mandate to discharge its duties.

According to Mr Oreagba, the authority has created various windows through which complaints can be channelled by motorists and the public, and the complaints sent via these channels shall be investigated dispassionately, noting video and audio evidence will go a long way in aiding the investigations.

He also clarified that many complaints from members of the public, particularly motorists against its officers, are mostly frivolous and done to woo public sentiments. This, he noted, has been proved by a series of investigations.

He further commended the activities of the Public Complaints Commission in fighting administrative injustice and getting justice for the less privileged who could not seek justice in the court of law.

He said the Authority is enthusiastic to cooperate with the Commission, particularly in resolving complaints on the traffic management.

The visit ended with an exchange of plaques and a formal seal of partnership between both agencies.
