The Public Complaints Commission, Kwara state has solicited purposeful collaboration with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and National Pensions Commission. Honorable Barr. Falola Olanrewaju Jimoh, the newly appointed Commissioner made this known when he paid a courtesy visit to the Zonal Director Mr. Harry Erin, of the EFCC, Kwara state.
According to him, the collaboration was necessary to further strengthen the relationship and seek for effective synergy between the two organizations.
The Hon. Commissioner commended the efforts of EFCC in curbing financial crimes across the nation and applauded their courage to continuously fight corruption which has eaten deep into the fabric of the society. Barr. Falola, the Hon. Commissioner in his speech dealved briefly into the aims, purpose and functions of the Commission emphasising the quasi- judicial role of the commission and how it has made the commission more friendly and easy to access compared with the court of Law. He made bold to announce that the services of the Commission are at no cost.
He also made known the areas of relevance where the collaboration would be of assistance like Information sharing to tackle systemic issues, Capacity Building to enhance investigative skills, Case Referral which has to do with seamless transfer of cases between the two commissions for specialized expertise and Advocacy by organising joint public awareness campaigns to educate citizens on their rights.
The Hon. Commissioner in his words believes that by working together, both agencies can reduce bureaucratic hurdles, increase transparency, and provide swift resolution to public complaints. The EFCC’s expertise in financial investigations can complement the Public Complaints Commission’s efforts in addressing administrative injustices.
In his response, The zonal Director congratulated the new Commissioner on his recent appointment. He also applauded the Commission’s efforts in addressing social injustice and maladministration. He appreciated the proposed training and enlightenment program as a welcomed initiative and shall be set in motion as soon as possible.
In another vein, the Ag. Zonal Head , Mr. Aliyu A. Ladan of PENCOM, Kwara State together with his management team received the Hon. Commissioner amidst his entourage warmly at it’s Kwara state office. Hon. Barr. Falola also made his intentions known to sensitize the PENCOM officials on the functions and duties of the PCC and to inform them of the opportunities they could benefit regards their entitlements during and after service.
The two agencies reassured the Honourable Commissioner their readiness to maintain the existing collaboration between both agencies and urged the commission not to hesitate in referring cases that need their attention.
The Hon. Commissioner commended the two agencies for the cooperation PCC had previously enjoyed with them while looking forward to a more robust and better integrated collaboration.
