PUBLIC COMPLAINTS COMMISSION, CROSS RIVER STATE PAID A COURTESY CALL ON THE COMMISSIONER OF POLICE, IN THE STATE POLICE COMMAND

On Tuesday November 12, 2024, Dr. Owa Egbara Owa, Honorable Federal Commissioner Public Complaints Commission, Cross River State along with his team, paid a courtesy call on Mr. Gyogon Augustine Grimah, the Commissioner of Police in the State Police Command.

The visit aimed to promote collaboration between the Commission and the Nigerian Police, particularly in prosecuting offenders and ensuring the safety of the Commission’s staff.

During the meeting, Dr. Owa emphasized the importance of collaboration in addressing public complaints and stressed the need for security deployment to the Commission.

He referenced a 2022 circular requesting security personnel deployment to aid the Commission’s enforcement unit in prosecuting recalcitrant respondents and complainants.

The Commissioner of Police welcomed the Commission and expressed his willingness to collaborate. He noted that as government organizations, the Police and the Commission share a common goal.

He offered to invite the Commission to address Police officers during their conference slated to hold soon,and suggested submitting a fresh request by the commission for the deployment of security personnel.

As a rejoinder, Dr. Owa informed Mr Grimah that the Commission has five area offices in the state and encouraged Police officers to utilize the Commission’s services.

He assured him that the Commission would increase public awareness through advocacy in churches, markets, and town hall meetings.

The meeting concluded with the signing of the visitors’ register and a group photograph.
