ABIA OMBUDSMAN WELCOMES ABIA COMMISSIONER OF POLICE

The helmsman of Abia State Office of the Public Complaints Commission, Hon. Madukwe E. E. Ukaegbu paid a working visit to the new State Commissioner of Police,CP Kenechukwu Onwuemelie, psc, fwc, MNIM, fdc at his office in Umuahia.

The Abia PCC boss in his opening remarks took his host and his team down the memory lane and elucidated the prevailing circumstances that led to the birth of the Commission in 1975; he further enlightened them on the constitutional duties of the Nigeria Ombudsman as enshrined in the PCC Act.

While giving a very insightful lecture, he outlined the kind of complaints that fall within the purview of the Commission and drew the attention of his host to some case files that are criminal in nature which require the urgent attention of the Police.

He enjoined his host to always see the Commission as partners in progress and emphatically hammered on the need for both organizations to sustain the already established synergy thereby ensuring a better and a safer Abia.

Responding, the CP appreciated his guest and members of his entourage. Without mincing words ,he expressed his admiration for the Commission and the selfless service it renders to the Abia society and the nation at large.

He requested the Commission to endeavor to resend all the police-related matters for rapid action . According to him, this move will help in cementing the collaboration of both agencies in the State.

Highlight of the visit was the presentation of copies of Annual Reports to the CP.
