The Hon. Chief Commissioner, Public Complaints Commission (PCC), Hon. Abimbola Ayo-Yusuf has called for effective collaboration of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) for the successful hosting of the forthcoming 4th edition of the National Anti- Corruption Marathon and National Youths and Students Summits schedule to take place on the 1st October, 2023 in Abuja.
The Hon. Chief Commissioner made this known when he paid a courtesy visit to the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, NIS, Mr Idris Jere in Abuja.
The Hon. Chief Commissioner said sports is a great unifying factor and the youths take a greater percentage of the population which if not well guided will find themselves in the wrong side of the law.
Hon. Ayo-Yusuf told the Comptroller General that adequate funding and other logistics will be required to make the event a success.
The Hon Chief assured the CG of the Commission’s commitment to fight this menace called corruption for the betterment of the society.
In his response, the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Mr Idris Jere assured the Chief Ombudsman of his readiness to partner with the PCC to see to the effective hosting of the forthcoming event.
The Comptroller General stated that the Nigeria Immigration Service is both a Security and service oriented agency and affirmed that the event will go a long way in sensitizing the youths on the danger of corruption.
The CG who said any form of corruption is a sin and a sin is a sin before God stressed that ” we should come together to totally eradicate corruption in our country”.
Mr Idris who said “it is cheaper to prevent corruption than to fight it” further reassured the Hon Chief Commissioner that, ” the NIS as an agency will give you all the necessary support to succeed”.
The Hon Chief Commissioner was accompanied on the visit by the Secretary to the Commission and top management Staff.
